Decking material

The three main types of materials used for decking projects are softwood, hardwood, and composite. Softwood decking is the cheapest option and the colour can be easily changed. However, it requires the most maintenance and is not as strong as composite or hardwood. Hardwood decking is from rarer woods and therefore is more expensive. However, it lasts longer and needs far less maintenance.

Composite decking is made from a unique mix of wood and plastic. This means it looks great but is also waterproof, long-lasting, and requires minimal maintenance. Decking treatments Many people ask the question 'should I paint or stain the deck?' Exterior paint can be used on decking but stain deck products are cheaper, easier to apply, look more natural, and a stained deck can be easily painted over (whereas a painted deck needs to be stripped, primed, cleaned, and sanded before it can be stained).

Deck stain paint

We stock several types of deck stain paint. Deck stain paint helps to protect your decking against inclement weather and foot traffic, as well as ensuring it stays looking great. This paint can be used on softwood or hardwood decking and also helps prevent your wood from splitting and greying.
