Thermowood

A popular choice for exterior cladding, Thermowood is a durable and sustainable heat-treated timber. It is created by heating Scandinavian softwood to temperatures of up to 230 degrees C. This intense heat helps to dry out the wood and makes it less likely to suffer swelling, cracking or shrinkage as a result of changes in humidity. It also makes it more resistant to rot and fungus.

Thermowood is produced using chemical-free heat treatment, making it environmentally friendly and sustainable. The heat treatment also serves to increase its durability and improve its insulation credentials. Most of all, however, Thermowood is an attractive timber that provides a classic and elegant finish. Thermowood manages to retain and celebrate the natural beauty of the wood, exposing different patterns, grains, and knots to give your external cladding a unique and individual look.

At Mill Timber Direct, we have an impressive range of Thermowood cladding. Much of our range is machined in the UK by Premier Forest Products' in house workshops and is part of the Premier Claddings range. Our Thermowood cladding will allow you to create a range of different styles. Some of them, such as our vertical shadow gap cladding or our tongue and groove V joint cladding, are designed to be fitted vertically.

Others, such as our screen cladding or our rebated featheredge cladding, should be installed horizontally. Our range includes traditional style shiplap Thermowood cladding, which helps to create a weather-tight finish, as well as horizontal shadow gap cladding, which creates a very modern and contemporary aesthetic for your building. Our Thermowood cladding comes in a variety of sizes including 100mm x 25mm and 150mm x 25mm.
