Plywood Sheets

Plywood is a wood-based sheet material that is made by gluing together several (two or more) thin layers of softwood/hardwood veneers. Each of these layers is referred to as a 'ply'.

What can plywood be used for?

Plywood is often used in construction because of its combination of strength and low cost. It is also used as additional support for roofs, in flooring (as a subfloor), and on walls (in garages and lofts/basements). Stainable and paintable varieties are often also used to make shelving, cabinets, and other basic furniture.

Plywood is available in various ratings, grades, thicknesses, and sizes. Here at Mill Timber Direct, we stock a range of different options including plywood sheets in softwood and hardwood varieties.

Marine plywood is a robust and durable variety that is ideal for applications where moisture may be an issue. Examples of where it can be used include in boatbuilding and in bathrooms/kitchens.

Elliotis pine plywood is a cost-effective, multi-purpose softwood. It can be used as floor decking, roof decking, wall/roof sheathing, pallets, and panelling.

Chinese red-faced hardwood plywood is another cost-effective, general use material. It can be stained if needed and is often used in structural applications (when over 9mm thick). This is suitable for use in shopfitting, modular buildings, and vehicle lining - and can even be used to make furniture.
