100mm x 25mm Imported Premium Douglas Fir Horizontal Shadow Gap Cladding, Profile Reference PFC004

Horizontal shadow gap cladding profile is a modern and contemporary profile which produces a soft ‘V’ shape shadow effect. The profile allows hidden fixings by having an extended top half to the rear of the piece - this means nails and screws can be covered over after fixing. Horizontal shadow gap is a very popular profile which tends to look more traditional and works well on short, wide buildings.

Appearance: Douglas fir (or British Columbian fir) is a characterful timber which is a rich red-brown colour, but often features variations of pink, brown and cream depending on the cut of the tree. It includes knots and has a larger grain pattern which, added to the colour variations, makes Douglas fir a popular choice for timber cladding. Left untreated, it will weather to a stunning silver-grey colour.

Douglas fir is available in two grades:
1. Classic; faster growing which results in widely spaced growth rings and a coarser texture with a bold grain and larger, more frequent knots compared to Premium
2. Premium; slower growing trees results in growth rings which are closer together, resulting in a timber with exceptional quality and texture, few and smaller knots.

This product is Premium.

Performance: Moderately dense and hardwearing, Douglas fir is known for its strength and durability. As a softwood, it is by nature resilient to fungal decay and insect attack. Douglas fir has a high resin content and can therefore be left untreated and still maintain durability over time.
Longevity: Expected service life is 35 years (out of ground contact).

This cladding is part of the Premier Claddings range which is produced from top quality timber and beautifully machined in the UK by Premier Forest Products’ in-house workshops. As a natural material, timber is durable and sustainable, with every tree featuring different patterns, grains and knots. This means that your cladding will have a unique character, with an individual look.
